Carbon nanotubes are mainly composed of several to dozens of coaxial circular tubes made up of carbon atoms arranged in a hexagonal pattern. The distance between layers is fixed, approximately 0.34 nm, and the diameter is generally 8 to 30 nm. Carbon nanotubes possess excellent mechanical properties. The tensile strength of CNTs reaches 50 to 200 GPa, which is 100 times that of steel, yet its density is only 1/6 of that of steel, at least one order of magnitude higher than that of conventional graphite fibers. Its elastic modulus can reach 1 TPa, which is comparable to that of diamond and approximately five times that of steel. For single-walled carbon nanotubes with an ideal structure, their tensile strength is approximately 800 GPa. The P electrons of carbon atoms on carbon nanotubes form a wide range of delocalized π bonds. Due to the significant conjugation effect, carbon nanotubes possess some special electrical properties. For metallic carbon nanotubes, the valence band and conduction band partially overlap, equivalent to a semi-full band, allowing electrons to move freely and demonstrating metallic conductivity. The band gap between the valence band and the conduction band of semiconductor carbon nanotubes is relatively small. At room temperature, electrons in the valence band can transition to the conduction band to conduct electricity. Carbon nanotubes have excellent electrical conductivity. Due to their structure being the same as the lamellar structure of graphite, they possess outstanding electrical properties. The carbon nanotubes prepared by our company feature a moderate aspect ratio, easy dispersion, and high electrical conductivity.
